Exposition Internationale | Milan. 1906. This was the winning entry in the contest to celebrate the Simplon Alpine tunnel opening. The tunnel provided a direct link between Paris and Milan. The red of the engine's light highlights the train's movement out of the tunnel. Framed under glass. Leopoldo Metlicovitz (1868-1944) was an Italian painter, illustrator and poster designer during the Art Nouveau movement.
